CarPlay & Android Auto Compatibility

JADOCAM mirror dash cams with built-in CarPlay work in virtually any car, because the mirror replaces the screen — not your factory head unit. Here's what you need to know.

The short answer

If your phone supports CarPlay (iPhone 5 or newer running iOS 7.1+) or Android Auto (Android 8.0+), your car works with a JADOCAM CarPlay mirror dash cam. The dash cam contains its own CarPlay/Android Auto receiver — it doesn't depend on your car having one.

How it works

Traditional CarPlay requires your car's factory head unit to have CarPlay support. Most cars before 2016 don't, and many modern budget cars still don't.

JADOCAM CarPlay mirror dash cams bypass the head unit entirely. The CarPlay receiver is built into the mirror. Your phone pairs with the mirror over Bluetooth + Wi-Fi (or USB on G100 PRO), and your CarPlay interface — navigation, music, calls, messages — appears on the 11" or 12" mirror display.

Vehicle compatibility

✅ Works in

  • Any car, truck, SUV, or RV manufactured 2005 or later with a working factory rear-view mirror
  • Cars without factory CarPlay or Android Auto
  • Cars with factory CarPlay — both work in parallel (use the JADOCAM mirror as a second screen)
  • EVs, hybrids, ICE vehicles — drivetrain doesn't matter; the mirror only needs 12V power
  • Manual or automatic transmission
  • Left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive markets

⚠️ Check first

  • Unusually large factory mirrors (some 1-ton pickups, large RVs) — measure your mirror; ours fit mirrors 8–30 cm wide
  • Frameless mirrors (some Tesla, some new BMW) — generally work, but the rubber straps may show. Contact us first.
  • Heads-up display vehicles — no conflict, but you'll have two navigation screens active

❌ Doesn't work in

  • Cars without a 12V power source (some classic and modified vehicles)
  • Cars where the factory mirror is integrated with auto-dimming or rain-sensor electronics that exit through the mirror stalk in unusual ways (rare — contact us with photos of your mirror if unsure)
